What a Weekend

Our family had a very bust weekend.  Although it was busy, it was also a lot of fun.  On Saturday morning, Kelley ran the QC Race for the Cure.  She felt she did well, but not better than her last 5K (she did a great job on that 5K).  When she checked her results online Sunday night, she found out she took first place in her age group!!!  Amazing work.
Kelley took 1st place in her age group during the Race for the Cure.
Once Kelley got cleaned up, we headed out to Lake in the Hills for our nephew's (Jimmy) birthday party.  His theme was Spider Man and he got a lot of cool super hero toys.  All the kids played well with each other and the party was great.  When Jimmy was asked what he wanted for his birthday, he just said cake.  Good man.
Jimmy is now 3!
Sunday morning, Emily and I competed in the Lake in the Hills triathlon.  It is a small, but very well ran triathlon.  The care and organization of the event made it a lot of fun.  I did my best times yet and almost broke the 1:30 mark.  Emily took first place in her age division!  She got a medal (and if you know Emily, any medal matters:)).
Great triathlon that goes through the Hedrick backyard
We then got cleaned up and headed out to Barley House.  The girls were tired, but had a great time.  Thanks to everyone for giving us a great weekend.

My 5K

Our friend Anne did a great job organizing this event. Emma ran in it as well and had a lot of fun.

I took 4th overall and 1st in my division.

Emma's Race

Emma ran her first race today and did a great job. She ran with her two friends named Nate and Nile. Once she got done running her race (about two blocks of running), she wanted to hop in the race with the next age group. Emma got a race t-shirt and a medal.

Kelly participated and did the one mile walk with Lucy. I did the 5K and was happy running it in under 28 minutes. But, Emma was the only one to get a medal...what a superstar.
